World class saxophonist Sarah Spencer brings her band of merry men put a spring in your step and a smile in your heart. From the soaring notes of ‘Magic’ Mike Henry on cornet to the Pop’s Foster-esque slap of ‘Lord’ Jim Swinnerton’s bass, this band will not disappoint!
4th The Uptown Gang
Legendary Keith ‘Cod’ Donald on the bass in the engine room, with a front line consisting of John Elmer, Bob Dwyer, and guest ‘Magic’ Mike Henry, this should be a rollicking night of top notch jazz. Start December off right!
11th The San Jacinto Stompers
Kevin Scott leads this band, which plays jazz in the New Orleans Revival-Style’ A classic six-piece lineup of trumpet, trombone, clarinet/saxophone, banjo, double bass, and drums, between them, they have decades of experience, both nationally, and internationally. Always a good evening!
18th The John Maddocks Band
Celebrate the end of 2024 and the start of the Christmas holiday with John Maddocks and his Dorset-based traditional jazz band. They have been playing more than 30 years, extensively in the UK and Holland, Germany and Belgium. Prepare to hear some stunning clarinet solos in between the ensemble work, and dance away the night!
8th The New Orleans Jazz Bandits
Always an AJC favourite, this band began more than 7 decades ago under legendary trombonist Colin Kingwell. Now ably fronted by their spiritual leader Ron Rumbol (of Vintage Excelsior fame) and MC'd by sprightly cornetist Allen Beechey (of the eponymous Bright Stars of Jazz), this band promises an evening of energetic New Orleans tunes. Heather Birt's double bass and Malc Murphy's legendary drumming join Tim Wake's banjo to drive the rhythm section, with Rob Pearce on trombone completing the front line. Not one to miss!
15th The Savoy Super Six (Savoy Jazz Band)
Carrying on the legacy of Barry Palser, who originated the band, Pete Rudeforth and his trumpet lead Savoy Super Six, comprised of Tim Huskisson on the reeds,Colin Graham's trombone, John Stuart Banjo and guitar, Murray Salmon on the double bass, and John Ellmer on the drums.
22nd The Dixie Swing Kings
The Dixieland Swing Kings are a very accomplished band formed from experienced musicians who really swing! This ensemble has the full repertoire of all your favourite traditional jazz numbers.
29th New Orleans Bump
New Orleans Bump play lively, happy jazz, which is always well received by the audience. Led by David Wood on reeds, the five piece band features Sarah Thatcher on banjo and guitar, Spike Kennedy on the double bass, and Dave Andrews on drums. Stan Stephens usually delights us with some vocals and of course, lovely trombone playing.
5th The Louisiana Rhythm kings
Led by an AJC trombone regular, Simon Wyld's band offers jazz of the 1920s and 30s, capturing the exciting sounds of New Orleans, Chicago and New York.The other members of the band are all well versed in the style, having played with many top UK bands and several are bandleaders in their own right.

Founded in 1959, this is one of the oldest Trad. Jazzbands from The Netherlands still playing. The Storyville Jassband has a distinct affiliation with the New Orleans sound, playing with great enthusiasm and a touch of humor.
